L & T PAPER ON 3rd APRIL AT KOLKATA
Hi, friends...........myself Nilanjan from CIT(Uluberia).................I got selected in L & T infotech yesterday (4.4.2007) and want 2 share my experience with you. Students from 19 to 21 colleges had come. Total of 2100 candidates.
The selection procedure was following.....
1. Written Examination (Aptitude Test)
2. Group Discussion/Extempore.
3. Profile & HR Interview.
1. In Apti paper they had three sets of paper. White(set-A), Yellow(Set-B), Red(Set-C). I got the yellow paper.consisting of three parts as like listed below. Total 90 questions , 90 minutes. No negative marking was there.
a) Quantitative Aptitude 30 nos.( R.S. Agarwall enough)
b) Logical Reasoning 30 nos.( R.S Agarwall)
C) English ( Barron GRE, R.S Agarwall)
a) The quantitative aptitude part was easy one. every type of question was there. from Bar graph, Mixture, Time Speed distance, Matrix, Percentage, Boat stream, probability, number series. just needed to follow R.S agarwall completely. I was confident about 24-25 questions. though i think it was lengthy.
Some questions were like:
1. find the sum of the following series.....
1+4+9+16+.....+100 = ?
2. two trains were coming towards each other the fist train was 800 metre long and its speed was 45 km/sec. the second trains speed was 60 km/sec . it took 16 seconds to cross each other. find the length of second train.
I cant remember the others..
the logical part was very easy and was from blood relations, coding, etc. questions were there. i cant remember the other questions. But it was easy.
English Part was not so good, Synonym, antonym, Fill in the blanks, Passage, etc was there. I did it correctly except the first two. You need to be very good in english.
B) from 1900 students 300 (almost) passed the Apti paper. From our college out of 45 students 15 got selected including me.Then They had grouped us with 16 people in each group and told to go for GD. But The persons from L&T said there will be no GD rather it will be Extempore. In our room A madam was there. she told us to think about any topic except ourselves or any technical subject for 2 minutes and then one by one she called us and told us to give the extempore for 1 minute for each person. I had chosen the current topic of Indias defeat against Bangladesh in world Cup. after the round she selected 7 person from 16 people and gave us a form to fill in a seperate room. In other rooms 4-5 peoples were selected out of each 16 people group.From Our College 11 people got selected including me. I think they were just checking the Communication skill.
Points to be kept in mind when Performing:

1.Dont look at the official person too much. just look to your friends and give the extempore.
2.try not to be overconfident. Use plain and simple English.
3. make a introduction and conclusion to topic.
4. Dont waste too much time. try to stop within 1 and half minute.
C) out of 300 students in Extempore 180 students had been selected for the HR Round.The form given must be filled up carefully. it will be applicable in the day of joining. So try to concentrate on every detail as possible. It was tedius to fill the form. After filling the form they called one by one for the HR interview. for me the mam who took my extempore was in HR. She just asked me three questions.
1. Tell me something about yourself.
2. What does your father and brother do.(though it was written in form and she was looking at it.)
3. Why do u want to join L&T Infotech.
I was very confident after the HR Round . It was very Easy. Other HR persons asked my friends about GSM, CDMA networking, C programming basic questions, do they have any problems ragarding posting etc. I was very lucky as our mam did'nt asked anything technical.
After the HR Round is Over at about 9p.m they told us to come next morning at 10a.m .
in the next morning at 12.30 p.m they gave us the ppt and declared the names of the selected cadidates. And My name was there. They also gave us the Offer letter that day.
Out of 180 students 165 got selected. I think those who made mistakes in filling form had been rejected. From our college total 9 people got selected. So finally i can say that if you clear the apti paper your job is 80 percent done. only you have to show your good communication skill in next round.
L&T's current pay packege is during 1 year training Rs. 2.2 lacs per anum and after 1 year 2.97 lacs per anum.
