SMS PREMIUM CONTENT - Premium Rated Short Messages (PRSM)

SMS is broadly used for delivering premium content such as financial information, logos, news alerts and ring tones. Such messages are called as premium-rated short messages (PRSM). The subscribers are extra charged for receiving this premium content, and the amount is split typically with the mobile network operator and the content provider (VASP) divides the income either by a revenue share or a transport fee which is fixed.

 For the "real word" services Premium short messages are also increasingly being used. For example, now some of the vending machines are allowing payment by sending a premium-rated short message, so the cost of the item that is bought is added to the user's phone bill.

A new type content 'free premium' or 'hybrid premium' has emerged by the launch of text-service web sites. These sites let registered users to get free text messages when the items of their interest go on sale, or when the new items are introduced.

Some of the companies like world tell communication  share the gate with professionals to communicate with that via an Application Programming Interface (API) in order to get their software broadcast messages. The connection of software and the gateway is established through Internet line.
