After 1947, the Government of independent India focused on
the development of indigenous science and technology. This
lead to the creation of the Indian Institutes of Management
in the country.
Established in 1973 by the Government of India, the Indian
Institute of Management, Bangalore is a Center of Excellence
in the field of management education.
The core activity of the institute, is designed to provide
management graduates with inputs in the functional areas of
Marketing, Finance, Economics & Social Sciences, Information
Systems, Operations, Corporate Strategy, International Management,
and Personnel Management and Human Resources Management.
Courses Offered
IIM Bangalore offers two year full time courses - Post Graduate
Program in Management (PGPM) which is equivalent to MBA and
Fellowship Program in Management (FPM).
Both these programs require the candidate to take CAT. The
institute also offers part time non residential PGSM - Post
Graduate Program in Software Enterprise Management. There
is a separate entrance test for this program.

The Post Graduate Program(PGP):
The Postgraduate Program is designed
to integrate current management theory and practice. The
two year Program , The curriculum has been designed to impart
knowledge, develop specialized skills and foster attitudes
essential for the growth of students into competent and
responsible managers.

The Fellow Program In Management (FPM):
The fellow program in Management is
a Doctoral level Program . It is designed to equip students
with professional skills suitable for careers in management
teaching, research, training and Consultancy.
Eligibility

A Bachelor's degree (10+2+3 system) recognized by the
Association of Indian Universities/AICTE as eligible for
Postgraduate studies OR an equivalent degree in Agriculture,
Arts, Commerce, Engineering and Science.

A minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) in SSC/SSLC, or
High School, Higher Secondary or Senior Cambridge or Recognized
School Final Examination of any Board/University.
